THE REVIVAL WE NEED
I enjoy listening to stories, proverb and idioms. If you are like me here is one good story by Larry Moyer
Years ago, during the America’s Cup competition in Australia, the Italian team went to the outback on their day off to see if they could find a kangaroo in the wild. They had been outfitted by the designer Gucci with jackets, wallets, bags, and luggage. Near the end of their search, much to their surprise, a kangaroo jumped out of the brush and was struck by their Jeep. As the kangaroo lay there, presumably dead, an idea struck them. They put the driver’s jacket on the animal and took a picture of a Gucci-clad kangaroo. As they prepared to snap the picture, the kangaroo—which had only been stunned—jumped up and hopped into the brush wearing the jacket. You can imagine the driver’s regret when he remembered his keys and wallet were in the jacket. Assuming the animal was dead proved to be costly.
I could imagine the driver and his team mate give a hot chase to the Kangaroo, at least to recover the bunch of keys and wallet loaded with important identification cards and international passport. On the process one of them got caught in a trap that was set for Kangaroo, others became victims of various injuries including snake bite. False, wrong and dangerous assumptions have inflicted heavy injuries on people, made many causalities and left us causalities.
The Church of Jesus Christ is progressing, living and struggling to maintain her balance between pleasing her Lord and aliening to the Worldview. Truly the Church has made tremendous stride in charity works, advanced greatly in leadership training, had a giant leap forward in technology and media , well crafted mission statement, fully polished and galvanized biblical vision, and more aspirational than actual core values, in the midst of this is the tension among the denominations, the high and low churches, so called, then the pressure of integration and all that surrounds it and the worst of all the lip service we paid to the things of the spirit, such as professors and not possessors of the true gift of the spirit.
We are the church militant, and a lot depend on our action, like the bible says “for the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Paul lending his voice further added “And my speech and my preaching [was] not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:” For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power.
Despites the various degree of progress the church has made, the church is yet to achieve the spirit of primitive Christianity, that is the kind power, demonstrated, manifested in the first century. We have majored in positive psychology and shallowness in spiritual gifts. Oswald added that we lack the deep and abiding work of the Holy Spirit which will alone stand the test of divine fire. Our ministry activities are mainly bases on man effort and man method. What is termed modern revival lack faith to wait upon God in intense believing prayer. Lack genuine Holy Ghost presence and the mighty manifestations of Divine power. Men are reformed not transformed into His image and set aflame or held in the grip of a Mighty awakening. Speaking of Samson the scripture declares “And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails. And when he had set the brands on fire, he let [them] go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards [and] olives.” We should be setting men ablaze for God empowering them, fanning them aflame to demolish the kingdom of hell. This goal is not attained yet because of higher criticism and blasphemy which abound among the churches. What a reproach to the King and His Kingdom.
Men have forgotten God. Sin flourishes on every side both on the pulpit and the pews, sincerely Strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the Lord’s house.--Jeremiah 51:51
for unless our lives are right in the sight of God, unless sin has been put away, we may pray until doomsday, and the Revival will never come. "Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you so that He will not hear." ( Isa. 59: 2. )
Turn ye even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God; for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger,…..
"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." Let God search your heart and reveal the hindrance. Sin must be confessed and put away.
Action plan, forsake all your cherished idols. Restitute your way by withholding nothing from God. Plead and beseech Him night and day for the trouble is not with God. It lies right here with you and me. Watch out for the continuation. Thanks for visiting and reading.
